CHAPTER 17

LITTLE DOVE

Little Dove (A True Story)

By Sharon Milliman

There was a little dove that came from Heaven. She was so soft, so small, and so tender. But she came with a very important message. The message she brought was one from a gracious God who breathed His love upon her then He gently kissed her and sent her to fly. She flew as fast as she could, carrying His holy words. She flew from the sun, through the clouds, to the earth below and then gently landed under a tree. As the gentle breezes blew, the little dove sat waiting for the one whom God said would come to hear her words from the Heavens above. She waited, and waited as the days turned into nights. Holding God’s words and His breath within her breast, her tiny heart raced as she kept her vigil. Many days had passed and the little dove began to grow weak but she knew in her heart that God’s will, would be done. Then, one bright sunny morning, she was there, the woman with the golden hair. She began to cry and pleaded “please don’t die.” Her tears poured like rain as she reached out and gently touched the little dove. She prayed that God would let her live. As she quietly sobbed, her heart breaking into a thousand pieces, the little dove slowly lifted her tiny head and in a soft little voice said, “Please don’t cry. I come to you with God’s holy words, and they are given just for you, they are words you seem to have forgotten. So I must tell you before I go. God wants me to tell you, He loves you. He wants you to know and remember who you are.” She said it again, “You must know and remember who you are.” As the little dove said these words from the Heavenly Father, she reached her tiny head around and with her beak; she pulled a tail feather from her tail and laid it in the palm of the woman’s hand. Then with her last breath, she softly laid her head down upon the woman’s hand and closed her beautiful eyes. The woman, still holding the feather, could see the little dove’s spirit flying free to the Heaven’s and she
